The kids were on Spring Break this week and the weather was so nice I decided to take them to the Monroe Zoo. I didn't tell them where we were going and when we pulled up and they realized where we were Hailey started crying. I asked her why she was crying and she said "I want to go to a zoo that has elephants." (The Monroe zoo doesn't have elephants ! : ( If it did we would probably be there every day.)
We ended up having such a good time. The weather was wonderful and the animals were really active.
Monkey Lindsey and Monkey Johnny
Monkey Mommy and Monkey Hailey
This was a little island with lemurs on it.
The giraffe was really close.
He kept coming up and almost putting his head down by Lindsey. I think he thought she was going to feed him. She loved it!
This was as close to an elephant as we could get for Hailey!
Jaguar. He was beautiful!
The lions weren't roaring when we were by them, but we could hear them throughout the park.
This cockatoo was putting on a show. He kept telling everyone hello.
You could almost touch this alligator. (Not that we would want to.) I'm glad the fence was there because I'm pretty fond of those little critters in the picture!
This is a little prairie dog enclosure. They have little bubbles that the kids can stick there heads in and look out, but our kids were too short.
This bobcat is having lunch. Yum, a rat!
Johnny, Hailey and Lindsey
Looks like the eagle is going to take off with Lindsey. She much look tasty.
Uh oh, now he's going for Hailey.
Johnny ducked, maybe he'll miss him.
Black bear
They coyotes were in the same enclosure with the black bear. They must get along.
This peacock was trying really hard to impress the female peacocks. He had all his feathers out as far as they would go and he was shaking them like crazy. The females were totally ignoring him.
Cute little monkey.
Johnny's favorite!
We had such a wonderful day! The only thing that would have made it better is if there were elephants!! (and daddy would have been able to come.)
